Karen and Michael: Rivals

Karen was in absolute bliss after Michael had turned his attentions from Andrea to her. She liked Andrea, and figured they might've been friends if they weren't rivalling over Michael. She might even feel bad that Andrea had gotten too big to dance for her boyfriend and had lost him.

However, since Andrea's misfortune was Karen's gain, she couldn't help but smile over the next few weeks as Andrea desperately tried to lift her bulk up onto the riser and dance for Michael. One week Andrea did finally manage to get up again, but she was too winded to dance with any real appeal. There were plenty of men who appreciated the effort, and to Karen's chagrin, Michael did seem to enjoy the show.

Before long though Andrea had given up dancing on the risers. She continued to attract plenty of attention from the men at the club, but she was still stinging at having lost Michael. Eventually she had stopped coming to the club.

When Karen noticed that Andrea was not coming, she was surprised how relieved she was. Even though Andrea had continued to gain weight, Karen was worried that she might get up and dance again, and she'd lose Michael back to her. She was even worried that Michael might look past Karen's dancing to Andrea's sheer mass. Andrea hadn't been the biggest girl at the club, but her weight skyrocketed after she stopped dancing, and she was closing in on being the biggest.

Karen's relief was short lived though. A girl she barely even noticed, until Tim had pointed her out, was getting a lot of attention. Even Michael's head turned when she went up to dance.

At first the girl had come in with a knot of friends. Her friends weren't nearly as thin as Karen's friends were (or Karen herself had once been), but they were definitely chubby. One Thursday night though, Karen noticed that the girl had come in alone, so Karen decided to get to know her a little bit.

Her name was Melissa. She and her friends had started coming to the bar on Friday nights, when they were all thin. After a few months of being on their own at school though, they'd gained quite a bit of weight. Tim, the bartender, had suggested they check out Thursday nights. Melissa had a lot of fun being appreciated for her new weight, and discovered some truly fantastic guys were at the club on Thursdays. Her weight went up, her friends got tired of being too fat for Fridays and too thin for Thursdays so they went to the gym while she came here.

As they finished their platter of nachos Michael joined them. They both flashed him big smiles, and Karen couldn't help but notice Michael return both smiles equally.

Karen shifted around on the stool she was using. "It's no use Tim. I just can't stay at the bar with you any more. These stools just don't cut it!"

Tim sighed, "I'm surprised you put up with them this long. I'll make sure you've got a table waiting for you next week, okay?"

Karen smiled. She'd eaten through the menu, and really wanted to keep going, but she was already late getting out dancing. If she didn't hurry up, she'd lose her chance to get on the riser. She slowly rose to her feet, taking a forlorn look at the menu, and was distracted by a twiggy little waitress carrying a mass of wings to some lucky table.

Karen's waddle was slower than normal tonight. Her body wanted to relax, and she just didn't have it in her to speed up now. She did try to limber up as she approached the riser though. It was getting tougher and tougher to get up and dance, and she wondered if maybe she should try warming up.

The twiggy waitress caught her eye again. She placed the pile of wings at a table with just one occupant: Melissa. Karen couldn't believe how big Melissa was getting. She was now bigger than a majority of the girls at the club Thursday nights. She wasn't in Karen's weight range, but she was one of the biggest girls to dance on the risers, and the only one who could move like Karen could.

She was so focused on Melissa that Karen hadn't even noticed her body carrying he to the riser. She bumped into it and lost her balance for a moment. It was getting dangerous for Karen to lose her balance these days. It happened quite easily, and she knew that she must look a little ridiculous flailing her arms around to get her feet back under her. She seriously wondered if she'd be able to get up if she fell to the floor.

After taking a moment to compose herself, and steal one more glance at Melissa, Karen wished she was eating that plate of wings, she stepped up to the riser. At least, she tried to. She had to rock her weight a little bit to get her momentum going up the steps. When she reached the top she was winded. She took a moment to catch her breath.

It took Karen longer than normal to settle into her groove. She finally did though, and while it wasn't one of her better dancing nights, she could still feel all eyes on her. She saw Michael in the crowd, clearly fixated on her. Karen smiled, forgetting all about Melissa and all the food that she was missing while being the queen.

Eventually Karen wore out, she stood on the riser panting. She dreaded the walk down the steps, but she could already see a waitress putting her order of food at Michael's table. She took one step slowly, then another. She didn't want to let gravity take over.

When she reached the bottom step Karen came belly to belly with a woman she'd never met before. Karen was tired, hungry, and desperate for Michael's company. She turned towards Michael's table, letting this new woman have the riser.

When Karen got to Michael's table, she dug right into the double cheeseburger and fries waiting for her. She didn't notice right away that Michael wasn't talking to her, wasn't even looking at her. Finally she noticed that his attention was on the riser, on the new girl.

As she reached for some fries, Karen turned to look. The new girl was about Karen's size, maybe a little slimmer. She had some excellent dance moves though. She was clearly a better dancer than Melissa, she really knew how to work her body. Karen even had to admit that this new girl was probably putting on a better show than she just had.

Finally, Karen realised that this wasn't a new woman at all: it was Andrea. She'd lost weight, but regained Michael's attention

Byline: The Fat Life - Week 14

No, it wasn't an earthquake you felt, it was just me going for a walk at 167 pounds. Luckily for all you amateur seismologists, I rarely walk further than the fridge these days.

I may have only gained 11 pounds in the last month, but it feels like more. Before I was soft and jiggly, but now I'm entering the realm of flabby and sagging. Everything that has grown bigger has now started to move down. My belly hangs over my waistband. My boobs overflow my bra, or rest atop my belly when I set them free. My bum is becoming tremendously wide, and it frequently bumps into things, such as doorways, tables, shelves and even strangers I was sure I wasn't any where near.

Getting my body to move is becoming an act of will. I think twice before standing up now, and make sure I REALLY need to get what I'm getting up for. It's a bit of a balancing act to stand, making sure my weight is over my feet before letting go with my hands.

There are other little challenges that are creeping up in my fat life: reaching for things is harder. For example, if I want the cookies in the top cupboard, I have to stand further from the counter, because my belly will rest on it and get in my way. Also, to reach the top cupboard means getting up on my tip toes. I've discovered that it's hard to get 167 up on tip toes, it's impossible to stay there for more than a moment and it wears you out very quickly. As of this writing the cookies are on the counter, and anything remaining in the top cupboard is considered lost.

I can finally feel people's attitudes towards me changing as I move from voluptuous to full figured. Before I would get attention for my chest, but now people seem to be noticing the general bulginess I present. Where I was getting curious looks before, they're starting to turn disapproving. Certainly no one says anything, and they don't do anything explicit, but they're a step slower helping, more than willing to let me wait an extra moment or two for some attention.

I know that to any reasonable eye, I'm not really all that fat yet, but I'm really starting to feel like it. I'll be sure to let you know when I'm going to the beach next, so you'll know when the tide is coming in.
